Persona Futuresonic 2007 @ Simple 12th May.

The scene was set, Simple in Manchester was to host the return of Persona for the Futuresonic Festival 2007. With no less than 8 like-minded people accompanying Lee Gosnay for this 4 hour event, lots of anticipation was attached and all was ready to be unveiled. The layout of the bar was totally transformed in order accommodate a dance floor, and of course Lee’s Ohm Sound system installed to provide his different sounds and styles.
The show got on the road with live Vj-ing from Alasdair Swenson which included a live camera feed and plenty of futuristic visuals. Music wise, and plenty of leftfield beats started the proceedings with light percussive elements added by Mike C and Tony Watt. Claire Jude played some lovely sax sounds as the bar started to fill up as people watched with curiosity and enthusiasm. Lee played some lively and bassy, dub step as NEO scratched his way in between the beats along with Des on guitar and vocal FX.
As the event unfolded the Music upped in tempo and the rhythms became more lively as the open-minded crowd started to find their feet. The head nodders and hip shakers were now out and the place started to liven up as Lee played some deep, almost hypnotic electronic house with some great bass lines from Bod on Bass guitar. Guest vocalist Lis Murphy added some lush melodic layers to the already deep vibe set and later sang over other tracks to great effect.
As the night drew into its last hour all the performers started to jam more freely with one another as some electro and funked up breakbeat were played. By the time a remix of Air’s Sexy Body was dropped near the end of the event you could tell a good night was had by all as the crowd, danced, whistled and jeered! Due to finish at 1am, Lee played an electronic Drum n Bass track which shook everyone into a frenzy gone 1am. One more they shouted repeatedly, and it went on for a good few minutes but unfortunately time was up for Persona this time! The diverse and receptive crowd made this event special along with the performers ability to deliver another great showcase for this years Futuresonic festival to enjoy!
